According to the 2013 World Happiness Report, a survey of 156 countries and regions published by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Singapore went from No.33 to 30 and ranked the highest in Asia. SMU Associate Professor of Law and NMP Eugene Tan commented, “So are we a happy nation when we are also known to complain a lot? I think it is in our psyche to be overly critical of ourselves. But we also appear to be unhappy about many things and I think this is also partly because of our high expectations in various aspects of our lives.”
