Singapore lacks underground and surface resources; we should provide financial services for the region

If Singapore is to continue to achieve growth, it must not be constrained by the size of the country. This is why Singapore supports the integration of the ASEAN economies, and strives towards being part of an ASEAN economic community by 2015. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Law K Shanmugam was speaking at the second ministerial forum organised by SMU’s Apolitical Association yesterday evening. He spent about an hour answering questions from an audience of 300 students which touched on population, economic slow-down, globalisation, income disparity, etc, and shared with them how Singapore creates opportunities out of these challenges.
