'Important to create enough good jobs'

At a dialogue held at NTU on Thursday about the future of employment in Singapore, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office S Iswaran said that Singapore will face rising employment problems currently plaguing Europe if it is unable to create good jobs. That is why, he added, the Government and industries had to be on their toes. SMU undergraduate Alex Loo, who was at the event to receive a scholarship, said that Minister Iswaran's assurance to lower-income workers struck a chord. "In Singapore, our standard of living is high and we can make it better… But we have to take note of income and social inequality."
