Uni students gun for overseas stints

SMU, NTU and NUS have reported that at least half of their cohorts had been on at least one overseas exchange trip to gild their resumes. These programmes are offered across all disciplines, and can last two weeks to more than six months. Certain grade requirements and interviews are considered before candidates are qualified to go on such trips. SMU Director of the Office of Global Learning Bernadette Toh said that employers regard graduates with overseas stints as "less parochial, more broad-minded, resourceful and sensitive to intercultural issues", driving demand for these stints.
