Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM Lucknow), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enter into a long-term partnership in global business education. The MoU was signed by SMU’s Provost and Deputy President, Professor Rajendra Srivastava, and Director of IIM Lucknow, Professor Devi Singh, during the former’s visit to Lucknow, India, on 29 July 2013.
SMU and IIM Lucknow will collaborate closely in research, executive education programmes, and faculty and student exchange programmes. The new partners will also explore the design, development and delivery of joint programmes leading to certifications from both SMU and IIM Lucknow. At the same time, the two institutions will jointly explore the possibility of designing executive education programmes in specific areas of interest to companies with businesses in both Singapore and Uttar Pradesh.
On the collaboration, Professor Srivastava said, “This is the seventh partnership SMU has sealed with an Indian institution since May 2012 as part of our India Initiatives, reflecting the University’s serious and intense efforts to forge strong linkages with key Indian partners. In addition to exploring joint research and exchanges, this collaboration will enable us develop executive development programmes with IIM Lucknow’s campus in Noida.”
Professor Singh said, “Globalisation has created opportunities in various domains of learning. Research cannot be confined to geographies. In order to innovate new measures of teaching and learning, we are delighted to join hands with SMU, one of Asia’s leading institutions, to share our expertise and learn together.”
