Efforts to get views of diverse groups

Our Singapore Conversation (OSC) was an effort organised to reach out to Singaporeans from all walks of life. Of the 47,000 who attended the OSC dialogues, 4,000 went to sessions organised by community associations and voluntary welfare organisations. SMU Assistant Professor of Law Mahdev Mohan, a committee member of the OSC, said that the format of small group discussions, as opposed to a townhall style where people face the policymakers, put people at ease and allowed them to speak freely. The event concluded with a list of policy recommendations such as having a five-day work week.
