Singapore's former president [and SMU Distinguished Senior Fellow], Mr S R Nathan, has been conferred Singapore’s highest award – The Order of Temasek, First Class. He is Singapore's longest-serving president, having held office from 1999 to 2011, and had a long and distinguished career in public service. After his retirement, Mr Nathan has been visiting institutions such as SMU to meet with students and speak to lecturers.
