SMU celebrated its tenth and largest batch of graduates, 2,122 in total, on Thursday at the commencement ceremony held at the Resorts World Sentosa. During the ceremony, SMU also conferred honorary degrees to former Chief Justice Chan Sek Keong and former Xerox Corporation chief John Seely Brown. In his speech to the graduates, Education Minister Heng Swee Keat lauded the university for the progress it has made since its founding in 2000. Economics and Business Management Double Degree graduate, and one of SMU's outstanding students, Eugene Heng Yi Sheng, had delayed his graduation by half a year to spend more time with his dying father. Heng also received the SMU Circle Award.
