A vision shared a future gained

SMU Professor of Public Policy and Brookings Institution Senior Fellow Ann Florini was interviewed on her views of corporate philanthropy. She commented that although the model of capitalism is still evolving in Asia, it differs substantially from Western models. Prof Florini felt that there might be greater potential to develop good ways of combining capitalism's need for profits with society's needs in the region. She was of the opinion that capitalism that focuses only on financial returns is not well designed to help society manage the broad set of global challenges and goals that we face today, and that the primary responsibility in this area still lies with the Governments.
