Third law school for Singapore

Singapore will have a third law school focusing on criminal and family law, to address a shortage of lawyers in these fields, Law Minister K. Shanmugam said on Tuesday. A committee set up to review the supply of lawyers in the country said that the school should give priority to mid-career professionals who are in related fields, and are keen to practise what it terms community law.  The committee's proposal on the school, along with five of its recommendations on the legal sector, has been accepted. Recommendations range from increasing student intake at SMU to reviewing the list of approved overseas universities.
