Another law school to be set up here

The Government has accepted the recommendations by the 4th Committee on the Supply of Lawyers. This includes the establishment of a third law school which, unlike its counterparts at SMU and NUS, will focus on grooming talents specialising in community law. Law Minister K. Shanmugam said that the third school will be different from SMU and NUS, as it will devote itself towards training mature students. He also noted that SMU and NUS law graduates tend to go into corporate law. The committee has put forth six recommendations in total. Among which, it has proposed to increase the annual undergraduate law intake at SMU from 120 to 180 students over three years.
