SMU organised first case writing workshop

SMU organised a complimentary case writing workshop for the first time on 26 March 2013 to allow working professionals to learn case writing skills and better understand the issues their organisations are facing. SMU established the Case Writing Initiative (CWI) in 2010 to promote case writing and case teaching, and it has published more than 40 business case studies to date. The case writing workshop attracted about 30 people, including those from tertiary institutes, government agencies and private organisations. By the end of the workshop, participants would have acquired stronger writing skills and would be able to write case studies for their organisations or enterprises. Those with strong writing skills would have the opportunity to be recruited by SMU as freelance case writers, and their case studies may be published internationally. SMU’s Dean of Postgraduate Professional Programmes, Professor Philip C. Zerrillo hoped that there would be more case studies on Asian companies. He also highlighted plans to bring the case writing workshop to other Asian countries. Due to overwhelming response from the public, the University will organise a second case writing workshop within the next six months.
