A three-day eighth annual conference organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lahore University of Management Science, under the title “Asian Ecologies, Capitalism, Modernity and the Environment” began at LUMS in Lahore, Pakistan on Friday, 5 April. Speakers threw light on different aspects of Asian ecologies, capitalism, modernity and the environment. SMU Assistant Professor of Sociology Ijlal Naqvi explored Pakistan's experience with the policy-making and implementation of the electrical power sector from 1955 to the present day.
