Wearing white because the “feeling was right”

Recently, numerous PAP members were spotted wearing white to their Meet-the-People-Sessions. SMU Assistant professor of the Faculty of Law Eugene Tan believed that this could be a subconscious way of promoting the PAP brand. He said that in the past, PAP was the dominant party and residents see the Government as synonymous with PAP. He was of the opinion that wearing white was a good move as it allowed the PAP to distinguish itself from government bureaucrats to some extent. He said that the results of the 2011 general election might have caused voters to feel that the PAP brand is on the decline. Hence, some PAP members would want to show voters their determination to stick with PAP, and at the same time, make it clear that PAP was serving the voters, in order to create a stronger affinity with the party.
