Imagine Singapore 2030

While Singapore joins the ranks of many great cities around the world and is deemed as one of the most liveable cities based on various international surveys, Singapore is also viewed as one of the most densely populated countries. In addition to its various challenges, Singapore is said to grow by 2030 – with 76,000 hectares of land and a population 30% larger than it is today. How do urban planners continue preserving a high quality living environment and what are the lessons to bring into the future from the past? Director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute and Professor of Psychology David Chan explained that the relationship between physical density and quality of life is not simple and direct, and that what matters most would be the public policy making aspects of it and the social cohesion of the society.
