Do more to attract PE firms to Singapore

Singapore has the potential to become a private equity hub for less well-known funds active in the United States or Europe, said Yong Kwek Ping, a Singaporean private equity (PE) pioneer in China and a trainer in private equity at SMU. Attracting them to set up offices here can create more job opportunities for lawyers, accountants and investment bankers down the value chain, he said. Since 2009, he has been teaching five modules at SMU on each stage of the private equity cycle: fundraising and deal sourcing, due diligence, structuring deals, portfolio management, and exit strategy.
