Rise in Singapore Customer Satisfaction Index

Customers in Singapore have grown more satisfied over the past year, the latest consumer index results showed on Tuesday. The health-care, finance and insurance, and infocommunications sectors all logged improvements - pushing up the overall score to 69.9 out of 100. However, consumer happiness scores did fall in five other sectors such as tourism, and transport and logistics. The Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore was launched in 2007 by the Institute of Service Excellence at SMU (ISES). About 33,000 Singapore residents and 6,000 departing tourists were polled last year to get the latest results. They showed that the index has hit a record high for the second year in a row - climbing 0.88 points. ISES director Caroline Lim said that the results were encouraging, adding: "The last couple of years have pitted Singapore businesses in a challenging operating climate of escalating costs and labour crunch." She said that she was pleased to see companies stepping up their game to focus more on customers.
