WP to hold press conference today while opposition parties have yet to announce their candidates

The Workers’ Party (WP) is set to announce its candidate for the Punggol East by-election on Monday. SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented that the snap election did not give candidates much time to familiarise themselves with the constituency. As Lee Lillian is more familiar with the issues of the constituency, she would have the upperhand as compared to other WP members. Furthermore, WP does not usually make drastic changes to their line-up, and they would want to increase their number of seats in Parliament.
