On the candidates who would be fielded for the Punggol East by-election, SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented that the votes Worker’s Party Lee Lilian received during the last General Election was merely a reflection of the voters’ preference for the WP. If WP announces NMP Gerald Giam as its candidate, it could possibly win even more votes.
