On the Punggol East by-election, SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented that opposition parties are well aware that a multiple-cornered fight would only benefit the PAP, and that a few of them must be prepared to lose their election deposit. He predicted that the opposition would eventually come to a compromise to fight for votes, and Punggol East would be a two-horse race. He also commented on the candidates the Worker’s Party might field, namely Lee Lilian, Yee Jenn Jong and Gerald Giam.
