The SMU Business and Cultural Study Trip 2012 to Vietnam was initiated by a passionate group of Vietnamese students studying at the university. During the 12-day trip from 9 to 20 December 2012, the participants were exposed to the expertise and experiences of the senior management of both public and private companies of various industries. The participants were very impressed with the strategic vision that the Vietnamese companies shared. While the companies pursued growth and profits, they also demonstrated significant concern for the roles they played in society and on the environment. Office of Global Learning Manager (International Student Experience) Lim Wensi, who led the trip said, “We are grateful to the companies for hosting our visit despite December being a peak period for most businesses. We are encouraged by the hospitality extended to our SMU delegation. Our students have benefitted much from the holistic programme that encompassed a wide range of key industries, leading corporations, FDI companies as well as private businesses.”
