The Chinese should not be exclusive

At the sidelines of his book launch, SMU Assistant Professor of Asian Studies Hoon Chang Yau commented that exclusivity is not the best way for any ethnic group, stressing that the key was not to avoid interethnic relations or resolve such differences, but to live with them. He added that overseas Chinese children experience a social gap and are often plagued by "psychological confusion", as the Chinese diaspora tries to maintain their identity by “forcing” their ancestral way of life on them.
