Terms like “Esplanade” and “void deck” come up frequently in the daily conversations of Singaporeans. However, when there is a need to express these in Chinese, most would not know how to “convert” them. A new and free iPhone app, called iHuayu, launched at this year's Speak Mandarin Campaign would resolve this awkward situation for those who seldom have the chance to practise Mandarin. The launch ceremony of the 33 rd edition of the Speak Mandarin Campaign was held yesterday at the SMU Mochtar Riady Auditorium with Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat as the Guest-of-Honour.
