UOB and SMU have teamed up to launch the UOB-SMU Asian Enterprise Institute . It was set up with a $10 million fund – $5 million from UOB and its customers and the other $5 million from MOE's matching grant. The institute replaces the UOB-SMU Entrepreneurship Alliance Centre launched seven years ago and provides consulting for SMEs. About 170 firms have received help so far. The institute will also conduct a biannual business intelligence survey for SMEs to gauge the global and Asian economic outlook and expansion strategies.
