SMU undergraduate Chen Weibin from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business started helping in a community garden in Teban Gardens since December last year. He had to juggle between school work and helping in the garden during term time and would spend almost the whole day in the garden during the school holidays. When interviewed, he said, “One should be responsible when it comes to farming, you can't just leave the seedlings in the soil unattended, thinking that work has finished. You should add fertilizers and check for pests regularly.” Chen Weibin had no knowledge of farming prior to this, but he had been reading up and visited farms.
