Courses offered by SIT seem to be popular with the polytechnic students, as 5,000 had applied for admission to SIT with only 1,300 places available. An evidence of its popularity is that 20% of those who had gained successful admission were among the top 15% of students from the polytechnics. There were also students who were concurrently accepted by NUS, NTU or SMU, but they had chosen to take up joint degree programmes offered by SIT with overseas partner universities instead.
