SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan commented that the two recent graft cases against senior civil servants have tarnished Singapore's image as a corruption-free country. However, the fact that both alleged offences have been exposed shows that Singapore's anti-corruption system remains intact and effective. If found guilty, Ng Boon Gay, former CNB chief, faces a jail term of five years and a fine of $100,000 maximum on each charge.
