Straits Times reader Paul Chan wrote about his love of shark's fin soup in response to SMU Associate Professor Thomas Menkhoff's editorial piece entitled ‘The cluster effect and shark's fin trade' (published in The Straits Times on 30 May) where he mentioned that the innovation of ‘fake fins' could be profitable for traders (while saving the sharks) if there are no issues with regulators and local businessmen, and consumers are open to such 'revolutionary' change.
