SMU Professor of Psychology and Director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute David Chan mentioned that Singapore should not be overly fixated on determining the optimal absolute number of immigrants to take in; rather, the country should focus on addressing integration issues. Professor Chan emphasized that the end goal should be citizens' wellbeing and national interest ? which needs to be defined more clearly. Professor Chan was speaking at a conference conducted by the Institute of Policy Studies.
