Helping farmers transport pumpkins: Some even buy them home

Fu Yuping, a second year SMU student from the School of Information Systems is currently doing her overseas community service work in Taiwan. She commented on the ?transport a pumpkin? movement and said, ?In Singapore, it is rare to find these kinds of practical activities to help farmers.? As abnormal weather situation in Taiwan has affected the transportation of pumpkins from the Southern to the Northern parts of Taiwan, this movement aims to help the affected farmers in their product transportation efforts. Members of Rotary International who were attending a seminar in Hua Lien, Taiwan then, also actively participated and helped transport the pumpkins to Taipei.
