A company in China has set up websites to issue fake degrees and also imitate famous tertiary institutions. According to Hong Kong Economic Times, this fake website claims that they issue degrees for a Hong Kong Finance College, a University in Hong Kong. However, Hong Kong Education Ministry has verified that there is no such College registered in Hong Kong. The website created also imitated SMU's website -- under the message of the Dean, besides changing ?Singapore? to ?Hong Kong? and under a different college name, the texts are all identical. Its mission and vision were alleged to be similar to that of Harvard School of Education. A lawyer said that if the College has created the website to solicit funds illegally, it can be sued in court. The highest penalty for those involved is 14 years' jail term.
