Pursuing a double degree has gained popularity in Singapore's universities. For the past ten years, the three publicly-funded universities in Singapore have provided the option to students based on merit. SMU started to offer double degree programmes in 2001, and currently has close to 15 per cent of each graduation cohort graduating with a double degree. Students have the flexibility to choose from various combinations. Professor Pang Yang Hoong, SMU Vice Provost (Undergraduate) s!id that the multi-disciplinary approach helps to develop the students' versatility and enables them to seek careers in a wide range of industries.
