Keeping mum on rumours of Yaw's extramarital affair ? political observers feel WP lacks transparency and MP Yaw Shin Leong should come forward to offer explanation

Commenting on the saga, political commentator and SMU's Assistant Law Professor Eugene Tan felt that the alleged affair could be regarded as MP Yaw's private matter and so no one could fault the Workers Party (WP) for choosing to close ranks and decline comment. He believed that both MP Yaw and WP would have considered the pros and cons of adopting such an approach and they would now have to bear the consequences of their decision.  Professor Tan added that it would not be necessary for MP Yaw to clarify the matter, as long as it does not impact his impartiality and efficiency in discharging his official duties.
