SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that having more MPs from the opposition parties speak in Parliament would be good for MPs from the ruling party. This means that there is less room for errors and those who make a wrong remark would be corrected immediately. Everybody will become more cautious in delivering his/her speech as a result. From the speeches of the Workers Party MPs, he observed that they seemed to have coordinated among themselves to highlight different issues and avoid subject repetitions. This phenomenon was previously unseen in Parliament.
