Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's decision to accept the recommendations of the Ministerial Salary Review Committee could be viewed that he and perhaps, his cabinet are willing to accept that the ministerial salaries have been too high, according to political observers. It is also a sign that Mr Lee and his cabinet are willing to assuage dissatisfaction among the people and restore confidence in the government. SMU Assistant Law Professor Eugene Tan expressed concern that the change in political climate will affect talent attraction in future. He said that it was already a challenge attracting talent and that it would now be a bigger challenge.
