The ministerial salary review committee has recommended that the government replace the current GDP Bonus for ministers and MPs with a National Bonus. Observers said the National Bonus is a small but significant change in how successful governance is defined. Assistant Professor Eugene Tan, from the School of Law at the Singapore Management University (SMU), said: "It's not just about numbers alone, but to ensure that economic growth is also inclusive. In a way, it seeks to move away from that long-time fixation with GDP figures."
