Dhoby Ghaut is a place in Singapore at the southern end of Orchard Road where Indian washermen washed their clothes along the Sungei Brass Bassa (now Stamford Canal). The clothes were then hung out to dry at the nearest open space. The area where the laundry was done was converted to Bras Basah Park and in 2005, the park became part of SMU.
