Tan Kin Lian had considered contesting in the presidential elections but now has no interest in politics

Former NTUC Income Chief Tan Kin Lian says he is no longer interested in politics as Singaporeans are too conservative to want to support a fresh face. He has also not seen a petition by 100,000 people for him to run for office. Analysing the case, SMU Asst Prof Eugene Tan says one should decide to run for office on the basis of wanting to do something for a country, noting that it is not a popularity contest.
