The Lee Foundation has given $150 million to Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) new medical school, believed to be the largest donation made locally by a private individual. In 2004, the Lee Foundation made a gift of $50 million to the Singapore Management University. With government matching, it amounted to $200 million and in recognition of the Lee Foundation's generosity, SMU named in perpetuity the School of Business, the building and the university-wide scholars programme after the late Dr Lee Kong Chian.
