A story of anxieties

Assistant Professor Eugene Tan discusses in his commentary the issue of immigration in Singapore, which reflects two competing and perhaps even conflicting anxieties. One is the state's anxiety that if the population is not topped up adequately, quantitatively and qualitatively, then Singapore is down the path of economic malaise. Second is the giving out of PR and citizenship rather liberally.
