Standing theory on its head

A group of 20 SMU students embarked on a field trip in China where they found that they had to rethink assumptions about rural poverty. This inaugural Political Science Study Mission was the culmination of a year's discussion, planning and negotiations between assistant professor John Donaldson and two students who came up with the course.
