Despite fee hikes, bursary applicants didn't rise

Despite the rise in university fees, there have not been clear signs of a corresponding increase in the number of students applying for financial assistance. SMU emphasizes that it has a needs-blind admissions policy. Its Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Alan Goh, says for every eight incoming students, one of them can get a scholarship. 20 per cent of all first-year students can also get bursaries, financial assistance, student loans et cetera.
