Handling the influence of the West

Struck by SMU practice assistant professor of theatre and performance studies Margaret Chan's vivid article ?Chinese Culture In West's Shadow? that was published in the newspaper last month, Lee Wei Ling, director of the National Neuroscience Institute, describes her feelings as a Westernised Singaporean of Chinese race. Dr Chan's article described how the Chinese masses in China were abandoning Chinese culture in favour of Western practices.
