Advising army generals on economics

The United Nations Under-Secretary and Economics and Social Commission Asia-Pacific (ESCAP) Executive Secretary Noeleen Heyzer along with Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz visited Burma's capital Naypyitaw on 14 December and held discussions with the Burmese military government on poverty reduction and economic development, especially in the rural sector. They held a briefing for the press on 21 December at the Singapore Management University.
