Fewer jobs = more attacks on migrant workers
SMU Assistant Professor of Law Eugene Tan said that migrant workers' home countries may become compelled to pay more attention to broader economic and social development policies and the impact of labour drain on their own economies in order to be less reliant on migrant worker remittances.
