Singapore Management University Collaborates with Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry To Promote Entrepreneurship in the Region

SCCCI Awards Three Scholarships To SMU Business Students

The Singapore Management University (SMU) will be collaborating with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) in the areas of executive training, research and development for the promotion of entrepreneurship and business skills in the region.

SMU will jointly develop executive training programmes with SCCCI's training arm, the Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business (SCCIOB), for SCCCI's members and affiliate organisations in the region. As a management university associated with Wharton, America's top business school, SMU will be able to provide SCCIOB with the necessary expertise and faculty to assist them in preparing the business community for the challenges of business globalisation.

SMU will also work with SCCIOB to develop programmes in Mandarin for the Chinese communities in the region.

As part of the collaboration, SCCCI will award three business scholarships of $5,000 each to deserving SMU undergraduates, firmly endorsing their confidence in SMU's programmes, faculty and students.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Prof Janice Bellace, President of SMU and Mr Tay Beng Chuan, President of SCCCI on 13 January 2001, at the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 47 Hill Street.
