[Singapore, 16 September 2015 (Wednesday)] – The Institute of Service Excellence at the Singapore Management University (ISES) (卓越服务研究院) today released the 2015 second quarter (Q2) Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore (CSISG) results for Air Transport, Land Transport, Logistics, Public Education, and Private Education sectors.

Singapore, 7 September 2015 (Monday) – Following an excellent showing in academic year 2014-2015, Singapore Management University’s (SMU) international mooting teams have gotten off to a good start in the new academic year 2015-2016, beginning 17 August 2015, with impressive results.  They achieved Singapore’s first championship title at the WTO-FTA Moot held in Tokyo, Japan, on 29 August 2015, with two mooters named Best Orator.  They also won first runner-up position at the Asia Cup International Law Moot Court Competition held in Seoul, Korea on 27 – 28

Singapore, 3 September, 2015 (Thursday) - The Singapore Management University is pleased to announce that Mr J. Y Pillay has been appointed Chancellor of the University with effect from 1 September 2015. His appointment is made by the Minister for Education for a term of five years. Mr Pillay takes over from Mr Yong Pung How, former Chief Justice of Singapore.

 

Singapore, 2 September, 2015 (Wednesday) - Seow Poh Sun, Associate Professor of Accounting (Education) and Associate Dean (Teaching and Curriculum) and senior lecturer Wong Suay Peng of the School of Accountancy at Singapore Management University recently were honoured with the 2015 Innovation in Accounting Education Award from the American Accounting Association (AAA).

Singapore, 26 August 2015 (Wednesday) –  Mr Choo Chong Ngen, founder and Executive Chairman of Singapore’s largest chain of owner-managed hotels, has made an endowed contribution of $2 million to set up a new bursary for needy students at the Singapore Management University (SMU).

The Hotel 81 – Choo Chong Ngen Bursary (Bursary) is the single largest bursary gift to SMU from an individual donor.

Singapore, 21 August 2015 (Friday) –  The 8th Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition, organised by Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE), drew to a close yesterday with an Awards Presentation Ceremony held at the Shangri-La Hotel.

The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Lim Ho Kee, Chairman of Singapore Post and Managing Partner of Majuven Pte Ltd. SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer, faculty, staff and partners were also present at the event.

Singapore, August 14, 2015 (Friday) - Singapore Management University students have triumphed in the global final of an international competition for future business leaders in Poland.

SMU’s Tueur Consulting, were crowned champions at the CIMA Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2015, beating 25 other talented teams from around the world.

The contest, into its seventh year, is run by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, in partnership with Barclays.

Singapore, 14 August 2015 (Friday) – Singapore Management University (SMU) welcomed its 16th cohort of 1960 freshmen at its Convocation Ceremony held at Suntec Convention Centre today. Starting 17 August, the new cohort will pursue degree programmes in accountancy, business management, economics, information systems management, law and social science. They will also have the opportunity to take up new offerings which are introduced for the first time in the forthcoming academic year.

Singapore Management University students emerge big winners at Singapore final of the CIMA 2015 Global Business Challenge, SMU’s third win in as many years in the competition

Singapore, July 10, 2015 (Friday) - Singapore Management University students triumphed in the Singapore final of the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) 2015 Global Business Challenge with two groups taking top spots; first and second runner-up. It is the third consecutive year in which the university has won the Singapore round.
