What's success? And what is it that gives meaning to our lives?

In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Tan Seow Hon, who is currently working on a project on success and flourishing, discussed the issue of chasing success and what gives meaning to our lives. She noted that at a recent forum at SMU, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong urged youth in Singapore to find meaning and purpose in what they do and thrive and flourish in their own ways. She explained why chasing material indicators of success can stop people from flourishing and pointed out the need for a national reset on the definition of success.
