SMU celebrates its 24th anniversary and focuses on environmental protection and sustainable development

SMU held its annual Patron's Day on 2 February, bringing together thousands of faculty, students, alumni and industry partners on SMU's Campus Green to celebrate the University's 24th anniversary. SMU Patron President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his wife, Ms Jane Ittogi attended the event. In her speech during the dinner reception, SMU President Professor Lily Kong highlighted how serving the community is an integral part of SMU’s identity. To illustrate this, she shared that SMU undergraduates, on average, complete more than 120 hours of community service, surpassing the 80-hour requirement stipulated by the University.
