In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Psychology (Education) Ivy Lau discussed why people love to hate BMW and Mercedes drivers. She shared her analysis of whether all of them really are bad drivers and shared illustrations of the problem with stereotypes. While some drivers of fancy cars can be selfish and entitled, she finds that our stereotypes and behaviour towards them don’t help the issue.
